crafting futures: cultivating an earth-based practice
2020, Michoacan, Mexico

How can clay catalyse a (re)connection with soil, earth & environment?

Supported by Crafting Futures to travel to Michoacán, Mexico, in 2020 in collaboration with Guapamacátaro Centre for Art and Ecology and Taller Escuela Ceramica to explore sourcing, processing and working with indigenous clay as a way in to environmental arts education.

As part of the project we developed and delivered a series of simple earth-based workshops to share with local community and wider networks, feeding into longer-term research about the possibilities and limitations of establishing an ecological arts and crafts school at Guapamacátaro.
