Led by the Bioregional Learning Centre in Totnes, Voices of the Dart posed the question:
If the river could speak, what would it say?

Running from winter to spring 2021-22, Voices of the Dart worked with communities in Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Totnes and Dartmouth to explore their relationships, questions and concerns regarding the health of the river Dart. Drawing on climate change research at a local and global level, the Bioregional Learning Centre wanted to support communities to access meaningful information and data about the river. I was brought in to integrate the arts into these conversations and to explore creative ways of anchoring the conceptual and cerebral in the embodied and the personal. Through tiered discussions, working with wild clay, botanical inks and collaborative creative writing, we felt our way through complex issues such as water scarcity and pollution levels and practised inviting in voices beyond the human in order to consider ways forward.

Desde el invierno hasta la primavera de 2021-22, Voices of the Dart trabajó con comunidades en Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Totnes y Dartmouth para explorar sus relaciones, preguntas e inquietudes con respecto a la salud del río Dart. Basándose en la investigación sobre el cambio climático a nivel local y mundial, el Centro de Aprendizaje Biorregional (BLC) quería ayudar a las comunidades a acceder a información y datos significativos sobre el río. Me contrataron para integrar las artes en estas conversaciones y explorar formas creativas de anclar lo conceptual y cerebral en lo corporal y lo personal. A través de discusiones escalonadas, trabajando con barro local, tintas botánicas y escritura creativa colaborativa, buscamos nuestro camino a través de temas complejos como la escasez de agua y los niveles de contaminación y practicamos invitando a voces más allá de las humanas para considerar formas de avanzar.
